I have run into some retards in my life, but what you are about to see may shock you. Disclaimer: If you are an atheist under the delusion that atheists are 'smarter' than theists, you may want to stop reading now so you can have a legitimate excuse for believing such ridiculous bullshit. There IS such a thing as fundamentalist atheists and are just as stupid as religious fundamentalists. However, this guy puts every moron to shame with just how stupid he is. I am talking about intelligence lower than the ankle socks of a particularly small beetle, standing in a ditch, in a quarry, in the low country.
There is a user on TheologyWeb who goes by the name of yo lunch. He claims to be almost 70, and, as far as we can tell, he is completely serious and not a poe. He has written at least one book and claims to be writing another. Here is just a few excerpts of a literal goldmine of complete and utter dumbassery the likes of which that has caused many grown atheists to cry in despair at just how stupid some of their brethren really are.
In no particular order (note that the smilies that usually litter his posts don't show up here, for your sanity and mine): -

No, I do not have a reference handy as to who those scholars are but I'm sure you can find many of them and may have done so already.
I am not a scholar, only a critic and have plenty of criticism of the so-called "Good Book" which is filled with myth, lies, contradictions, barbarism, fables, etc., etc. Certainly not the Word of God because he would not write or condone such filth and spurious material.
Fact is, the Bible is written by a number of anonymous writers, written in an age of gross ignorance an superstition. They purported to write about events that they did not witness, such as the beginning of life. We, in the age of enlightenment, should know better and not believe such a stupid explanation for our existence today!"

Fact is, the "Beattitudes" from which you are referring to, are simply a bunch of idealistic nonsense that cannot be obtained. How the hell can you love your neighbor who has just destpitefully used you? Oh, if were only that easy! The world would, indeed, be a much better place to live in. However, it ain't so and never will be. Human nature is not made that way. We are animals too.! The only difference is that we have speech and a conscience.
What about the one that says "an eye for an eye"? I know, Jesus said to forget that one. Just another example of proving almost anything you want to by the Bible."

"LISTEN! I am now tired of this banter with a lightweight and will now flick this flea away from me.
However, it has been some 50 years since I took a logic course so please forgive me if I am a little rusty. Even though time takes its' toll, I began with such a high IQ that I can still lose 50 points and still be ahead ahead of most.
Having said that, let us begin.
God created man in his own image. Right?
God is perfect. Correct?
Therefore, man was created perfect. Is that not so?
If that is true, please explain how is is that a perfect being can produce an imperfect being with a flawed will? If man has God's wisdom and insight, he would have been sagacious enough to not eat of the "forbidden fruit" in the first place. It would have been like tempting a Millionaire with a penny!
However, a bigger responsibility lies with the Creator. After all, it was He who put the temptation in the Garden. One wonders just why the All-knowing God would not know how man would use his so-called "Free Will" in the first place. Why, in His infinte wisdom, would He even "tempt" man to begin with? Rather sardonic isn't it? What use could such a tree possibly have anyway? Especially if it was not to be used by man?
God, being perfect, could not and would not, make anything that is imperfect. Therefore, if man is not perfect, he cannot be made by God who is perfect. And it follows that the Bible, which is also not perfect, cannot be his Word either.!
If we asume for the moment, that God, having done the impossible for Him to do, created an imperfect man and then would punish him for falling victim to those imperfections by making the wrong choices and thus is made to suffer the threat of eternal punishment, please explain how a Merciful and Just god could possible do such a thing?
A mother, putting cookies on her child's plate and then giving him a choice as to whether he will eat them and adding the threat of punishment if he chooses to eat them, is not providing a "free will" choice! It is an absurdity!
Now, please run along now and play with your Pixie Barbie Doll!"

In circumventing all of the BS Midrash, I shall now, single-handed, hammer another blow to the fatal spike in the coffin of Christianity!
Let us imagine what would have happended if man had been allowed to live forever in the Garden of Eden and allowed to be "fruitful and multiply."
Now imagine that soon after a few generations upon generations that they would have outgrown the Garden, left the place and would not have had to be thrown out by god at al--sin or no sin.
Eventually the entire earth woiuld have became so over-crowded that everyone would have been relegated to elbbow room only ,breathing foul air filled with carbonic and other noxious gases. These unbearable conditions would have lead to mental illness and mass hysteria. Under such a deplorable enviornment everyone would have been screaming out for the Lord to send them a "Saviour to kill them and out them out of their misery! Deliverance from a true Hell on Earth that would not have lasted anywhere near 6000 years!
So, there goes the need for a Jesus and his mission to "save" us all from the so-called religious invention "sin."
So, my dear Christian fellows, your assignment , should you decide to accept it, is to scurry off now to your closet and pray for a revelation from above for the perfect Midrash retort! I anxiously await what will be written on those sacred tablets!!!!!!!!"

Moving past your amateurish attempts at Midrash, I shall suggest a book for your edicication: THE BIRTH OF GOD, by James Kavanaugh,Trident Press 1969. He is a former Catholic Priest who finally saw the light.. Here is a brief excerpt::
" It was only gradully that I learned that many of the biblical stories were myths...it does not now appear that it came from the revelation of God..the old Testament rings with ...mythology, archaic and superstitious ritual..it is not the 'word' of God , nor is the New Testament"
Go forth and learn the facts my dear child so that you may not spend the rest of your life with such nonsense!"

Gen:1:16 "God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars."
Well now, the ignorance of this anonymous author's basic knowledge of cosmogony 101 is very apparent here! Here we have him calling the moon a "light!" Fact is, it just relects the sun's light!
Furthermore, he doesn't even know that the stars are also suns AND JUST THROWS THEM IN AS AN AFTER-THOUGHT!
Your turn."

Think again, Mush Brain! Matt 24:29 says " ' the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, the stars will fall from the sky, and the heavenly bodies will be shaken." And to make matters worse, verse 30 goes on to say " At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the nations will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky, with power and great glory."
And, to exacerbate the situation, Acts 2:20 says that "The sun will be turned into darkness and the moon to blood."
Wow! Where do begin to show the ignorance of these guys about our infinite Universe?
"The moon will not give its light" I guess not since it does not have its own light and the Sun will be darkened!
The stars will "fall from the sky." I hope not , as that would burn us up long before they got here!
I pass on the absurdity of "heavenly bodies being shaken."
Then there is the absurdity of Jesus appearing in a sky that has become black and yet he can still be clearly seen by everyone. (Please spare me the Midrash of Jesus can still be seen because he is the "Light of the World.")
Then there is the ludicrous one about the moon dripping down in blood! Ridiculous beyond belief! The blood would never reach the Earth, IF it became blood in the first place!
Think of it! Jesus, Best-Knower and Creator of the World, doesn't know that the Moon is not the source of its own light! Read it again, dear!!!!!!!!! What's more, he doesn't know the laws and dynamics of Physics and Chemistry either!
The ignorant authors of Genesis never had a telescope and never heard of the Universe or Nebula or even the rudimentary nature of the sky and what it contains. They thought heaven was a solid roof supported by reservoirs of water. The stupid Tower of Babel myth shows that they thought heaven could be reached by building a skyscraper!
Putting it all together, even if you can explain away a few of them, the aggregate shows that the whole picture presents something not to be believed for a moment! Only those who do not wish to be confused by the facts will still cling on to belief in this absurdity!"

The Bible is full of holes that a REAL AND TRUE God would not have in his word. If that were not so, there would be no need for "interpretations" , numerous editions, translations, etc. It would be so plain that even a small child could thoroughly understand its meaning. Not so with the Bible!"

It is he with whom I take umbrage with because it is he who that I am told that I will go to hell if I do not believe in. It is his followers who harass me by knocking on my door trying to convert me to their way of thinking. It is the Christians who would try to influence legislation to meddle in my life. Yeah, Brother, I am here on a mission!
Fact is, you people NEED guys like me on here so that you can hone your skills in the defense of your faith. After all, that is the motto of the website--to debate and defend your faith in a rational and serious manner!
And, just so you people know, I am gathering material here for a book I have been working on for years so i am not wasting my time here. As I am getting older and time is running out, I want to get with it soon. Thank you for the link. However, I think that I am in the right place for what I am trying to do and that is to argue a few reasons why Christianity is not believable. After all, Genesis is the foundation of Christianity. Is that not so?"
This is where he argues that his own existence is a disproof of God, or, as I like to call it, the argument from stupid atheists.

A better plan would have been to just have everone speak the same language and then there would have been no need for translations and perhaps no "interpretations" either.
Ain't it funny how us mere mortals are capable of out-thinking a god who knows all and sees all?"

Fact is, I don't care HOW we got here. All I care about is dealing with the fact that we ARE here! How we GOT here is a moot question and will NEVER be answered because nobody is alive today to tell us how he was the first person and the origin of the world or anything in it.
My problem is that the Bible purports to answer these questions and is a poor explanation for such a complex question. There are many other so-called "sacred books" that is just as bad."

Addle Brain! Perhaps you will take the word of Dr Henry M. Morris , author of THE GENESIS RECORD, Baker Book House, 1976, and President for the Institute for Creation Research:
" If Genesis were not historically trustworthy, then simple logic showed that
neither the rest of the Bible, including its testimony about Christ.
What God planned and promised and prepared in Genesis, He accomplished and perfected in the coming of Christ...
If the first Adam is only an Allegory, then by all logic so is the second Adam. If man did not really Fall into sin from his created innocency, there is no reason for him to need a Savior...If Genesis is not true, then...Jesus Christ Himself becomes a false witness...Faith in the Gospel of Christ for one's eternal salvation is an empty mockery.
By all means, therefore, we must oppose any effort from any source to mythologize or allegorize the Genesis record. It was written as sober history..."
So, we see that Genesis IS THE FOUNDATION OF CHRISTIANITY! Adam's sin is what laid the way for Jesus to enter the scene and "die for our sins."
Nuff said!"

Very faulty logic! First of all your pemise presupposes that there is a beginning. That is not an axiom.
You second statement says the universe had a cause, which too, is not an axiom
Your conclusion does not necessarily follow because it is based on a false premise.
Fact is, if god says that he always was, then we can question why he does not have a cause or a beginning. We would also need to ask why if he always was, then why can't we say that the Universe always was? Why did it need a first cause if he did not?
What we wind up with is a conundrum and a stalemate.
I usually avoid such topics as this and prefer that you address those that are more closely related to this thread.
Sorry, your argument must fail. Try again."

Actually, I will simply ditto the brillance of Jon Day's response.
For my part, you have propounded a stream of drivel that is not germane to this thread. You can show all the "proof " of the Historicity of Jesus until you are blue in the face but it would not prove a thing about the divinity of Jesus. You cannot produce ONE witness that saw Jesus quit the tomb! THAT is the history that Pliny, Josephus, tacitus, etc., fall short on. Therefore, I see no reason to place Jesus above all of those other so-called "Christs" and "Saviours" that came before or since him and all of whom you soundly reject!"

The Universe would still be here. In fact, the entire planets, stars and suns, etc. can vanish and there would still be space! There is no "nothing!" Just tell me what would be at the end of space? That" nothing", whatever it is, would still be "something.""

Thank you for the correction about Mary and Joseph. I meant the Wise Men, obviously.
As for what the men were is irrelevant to my point--ONE CANNOT "FOLLOW" A STAR! The Sun is a star, can you follow it? No! The story is ABSURD!
You can point out my mistakes in typing but you will not be allowed to get away with DUCKING MY SALIENT POINTS BY SUCH TACTICS!
Iv'e seen those specious explanations about who those "wise men" were supposed to be but they are just trying to cover the blunder and embarrasment of it being there in the first place! Notice how it is not repeated in any of the other gospels!"

YOU, dear Christian, are a FOOL and not worthy of any more of my time unless you can refute my arguments other than by pointing out typos! The nonsense of following a star is in the Bible and thus I am correct in pointing that out! The fact STILL REMAINS that the three not-so-wise men are said to have been led to Jesus from a star!
It is true that Paine did not have a Bible for part ! but he did have one for part 2. If he didn't he would have had ONE HECK OF A MEMORY to cite with such accuracy all of those verses!
As for the sperm "analogy" I made a VALID point to show that many events occur IN SPITE OF THE TREMENDOUS ODDS AGAINST THEM! JP makes the case that Christianity was "impossible" in the face of the odds against it and my point was valid in showing a "so what"? response through my sperm example! Any first-year student of debate and logic can tell you that wis a sound refutation."
However, the true platinum quality screwball material is when he accuses fellow atheists who point out what a moron he is of being closet Christians etc. I'll include the post of the atheist calling out yo lunch's stupidity.
